In addition to my Team In Training Page I created this blog to keep everyone up-to-date on my training.
I have now been running for a week. I've made it up to three miles. Granted, the three miles are made up of a mix of running and walking.
It's been a very tough process so far. I generally don't run. I've never liked it. Probably because I've never been good at it. Dancing, love it. Yoga, love it. Swimming, absolutely. So choosing to run in the first place has been a big step for me.
I'm quickly realizing how out of shape I am. There it is. I said it. And the huffing and puffing is frustrating, but it's getting better.
Jordan put it best when he asked me after the second long run. Have I ever run before? No. Did I think that signing up for the marathon automatically put me in shape to run it?
Good point.
I'll keep working. I'll keep pushing, and not just for my health.
I'm running this race for all of the people affected by blood cancers. Specifically for two people close to my family that suffered from leukemia.
As many of you know, cancer is a big issue with me. I have lost many loved ones to all types of cancer, and for every one of those, and for the ones that survived, I will run this race.
For more information about the race, visit my Team In Training website. You can also donate to the cause at this site. I very much appreciate any contribution.
